The electric field of an electric dipole at any point in space can be calculated by using Coulomb's law and the Superposition principle. Here we study two cases: (1) When the point is on the dipole axis, and (2) When the point is on the equatorial plane of the dipole.
For Points on the Dipole Axis
Let the point P be at distance r from the centre of the dipole on the side of the charge q, as shown in figure
